Oh the weather outside is frightful...
December 23rd, 2009 by Angela
It's not actually, it's lovely. New York still has its big, thick blanket of snow and it's bloody freezing but it's also beautifully sunny and there are clear blue skies for miles and miles and miles. I always wanted to be one of those girls that wore sunnies with scarves and mittens without looking a tit and now I have an excuse. Well, I might still look a tit but hey, everyone else is doing it. And what's good for the goose... yum, goose.
As you might have guessed, I'm feeling much better. Last night I consumed half a buffalo chicken pizza on Alex's couch while watching Home Alone and magically, I was restored. Next we're off to the Blackbird Parlour on Bedford Avenue for hot chocolate and coconut cake (what? I've got to get my strength back!) and then I'm heading back into the city to meet Miss Jenny for Christmas goodness.
God bless the girl - she's managed to weasel out of work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so Christmas eve is going to be a full on spa extravaganza at Rapture followed by Christmas shopping (apparently everyone does it on Christmas Eve here. I do not believe this and have secretly been squirreling away presents for Some Time) then cocktails with the girls. Hopefully this will all be followed by a lightly squiffy phone call to my lovely boyfriend who will find it in his heart to come over to my place because it's too bloody cold at night for me to trek over to Brooklyn when I've had a few.
Then we're staying in Manhattan for the day itself - Jenny has no desire to head up state and I'm still pretending nowhere else exists in the entire world other than New York, so home sweet home it is. We've bought an absolutely ridiculous amount of food (as though anywhere will be shut - nothing shuts here! You can go to the cinema on Christmas day!) and we've bought special matching flannel pjs from Victoria's Secret for our sit-in. I know, sexy.
At first I thought I'd be sad being away from home at Christmas but for the first time ever, I've realised that home really is where the heart is. And my heart is wherever Jenny, Alex and my massive box Lucky Charms happens to be...
Mood: FESTIVE
Currently listening to: The Muppets and John Denver Christmas album until Alex comes over and then we'll pretend we were listening to the Phil Spector album the whole time. Still brilliant but sans Piggy, therefore Not As Good.
