F-F-F-Freezing
February 17th, 2010 by Angela
So someone had the bright idea to offer to appartment-sit for her Brooklyn boyfriend while he went off on tour. Not offer to go on tour with him, oh no, that would have been too much like a good idea (hello southern hemisphere and actual sunshine) but just to hang out in his gorgeous Williamsburg apartment, try and get some work done and make sure no one robbed his priceless collection of take-out cartons.
And guess what happened next? It snowed. It snowed like a mofo. As in blizzard. Seriously, it's ever so faintly terrifying. Floor to ceiling windows are a great idea if those windows aren't being bashed with an arctic snow storm for two straight days. Which stops for two days and then starts up again. According to Jenny, she can barely even tell that it's been snowing in Manhattan. Not the case in Brooklyn, let me tell you. The pavements are at least an inch deep in black ice and there is frozen snow everywhere... It stopped being fun about three days ago, seriously. I think it might be the beginning of another ice age.
However, what has not stopped being fun are the following things:
1. Ordering in San Loco guaco tacos, Vinnie's pizza and Pop's buffalo chicken sandwiches.
2. Watching 17 Again on HBO. Over and over and over.
3. Generally having a mooch through Alex's stuff. Not his private stuff (I'm not that stupid) but you know, CDs, books, DVDs. Who knew he was such a big Buffy fan?
4. Sleeping on and off ALL DAY LONG
5. Alex's washer/dryer. No one has a washer/dryer in their apartment. I totally brought all my washing over. He might wonder what the mysterious bottle of Downey is though... in case you're reading, it's called Fabric Softener and it makes things feel all squishy and nice.
Why don't boys understand fabric softener? Really? Sigh...
As soon as the sun comes out, I'm going to be out and about with my camera, promise.
In other news:
I braved the cold on Saturday to attend a Chicken Wing Cook Off and my friend's party where Jeffrey Lewis played. Both things were worth falling over three times in the snow.
I hear Cheryl Tweedy/Cole is having a hard time of it. If you want to pop over, I've got this apartment to myself for another week. Girls' weekend away?

Good to see your back blogging! Your cold in NY but if you were back here in ol Blighty you would need a Dinghy to get around in as we may not have had snow but we've certainly had our fair share of rain and its supposed to continue - What joy! Finding it hard to put your book down but its now 12.30pm and I think im gonna have to wait until tomorrow to finish it! Im hoping for another happy ending!
