Oscars 2010!
March 9th, 2010 by Angela
Sunday night may have been the most delightful night of my entire life. Sat on my sofa, draped in a baggy red hoodie and some massive elasticated waist PJ bottoms, I readied myself for the fashion event of the year. The Oscar's Red Carpet...
In honour these poor girls who had starved themselves since Christmas, roommate Jenny and I, ordered a massive pizza, buffal wings and got the Ben & Jerry's in along with my preferred Woodchuck cider and her favourite Coronas. Because they were more fizzy and bloating than wine. That's how we roll.
Now, you must understand how honoured we were to have Jenny's professional styling opinion with us on this night of nights and ignore all of her snide 'I could have done a better job than that' comments. Because she didn't so she couldn't and after two hours of patting her on the back and saying 'yeah you could' I got bored.
Anyway, here we go...
My winner of the night:
Sandra Bullock. When the red carpet stuff started on E! I declared that if Sandra Bullock won an Oscar for best actress, the world would end - Hope Floats anyone? But that gorgeous pale gold Marchesa gown, bright, fresh make up and lovely, shiny shiny, shiny hair? I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to win. She looked GORGE. And her speech was amazing.
Runner up:
Cameron Diaz
I loved that dress, the hair, he make-up - everything. She just looked so comfortable and I always like that. Cam, let's get a drink next time you're in town, I feel like we could be BFFs. Don't tell Jenny though.
Jenny's winner of the night:
Unsurprisingly, Jenny Lopez picked Jennifer Lopez. Never one to miss a couture treat, she fell in love with Jenny from the Block's theatrical pale pink Armani Prive concoction. I was concerned about how she would be able to pee/sit down.
Runner up:
Zoe Saldana's Givenchy Couture. I'll admit it, I didn't get it but stylista Jenny says it was brave and bold and beautiful. And that it didn't look like the Crystal Barbie bodice taped into a flamenco dress.
My least favourite gown:
SJP's yellow Chanel potato sack. I'm sorry, I don't care if it's Chanel. And also, your hair looks like a giant Danish pastry. Great make up though and as always, accessorized to perfection with Ferris Bueller.
Runner up:
Maggie Gyllenhall. Just awful. Sorry. Love you, love your bro, that dress is awful.
Jenny's least favourite gown:
Charlize Theron's Dior lilac shift dress should have been beautiful. But then someone went and sewed two massive pink Danish pastries over her boobs. There is a theme to things that went wrong at The Oscars this year...
Runner up:
Diane Kruger - why is a black caterpillar trying strangle you?
Biggest surprise:
I'm not sure if the biggest surprise should be that Kirsten Stewart wore a pretty dress (which I admittedly didn't like when I saw it on screen but having checked out the pictures since, it's lovely. Inky blue Monique Lhuillier, yum) or the fact that she's smiling. You're nailing R.Patz woman, show us some teeth! Jenny wishes it to be known that if she was nailing R.Patz, she'd be smiling to broadly morning, noon and night that people would ask if she'd had a seizure. Nice.
Aside from these particular dresses, I really loved Miley Cyrus and Cameron Diaz, apparently I'm all about pale gold floaty number this year (but not yours SJP), I loved all the cascading ruffles (Penelope Cruz, Vera Farmiga, Elizabeth Banks, ) and the pretty blush, nude tones on Demi Moore, Ana Kendrick and lots of others.
Basically, almost everyone looked super pretty. I love when the Oscars goes super glam and this year, everyone looked so so pretty and so so happy. Ahhh.
Not as happy as me though because I ate SO MUCH FOOD.
Bwah ha ha ha ha ha ha.

I completely understand the Gerard Butler/Bradley Cooper thing even though neither of them are really 'my type'. Also, I used to get them confused all the time (much to Jenny's disgust) and to see them side by side in all their hotness. Almost too much for me. Also, Zac Efron? Super cutie. Super. Cutie.March 10th, 2010 by Hannah
