The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave
April 14th, 2010 by Angela
I suppose I didn't realise just how brave Americanos are until Jenny, Vanessa and I descended on Washington, DC this weekend. To quote Jenny directly, it was HOT AS BALLS.
Van was running (ew) in the annual Cherry Blossom ten miler so we tagged along and, well, Jenny and I got up to some adventures that I really can't put on a blog. Seriously. And when I say Jenny and I, you realise that what I mean is Jenny got up to some adventures while I sat with my head in my hands and quietly sobbed besides the Lincoln Memorial. I promise I'll tell you about it sometime.
As a non-Americano, Washington was an interesting place to visit. It's certainly not New York but there was no shortage of stuff to see, especially if, like me you're interested in the following: Dorothy's ruby slippers, dinosaur skeletons, panda kites (see pic), a subway where you can use your phone, lots of swanky jewellery, cocktails containing St Germain liqueur, giant statues, American tourists and perhaps most importantly the original Kermit Muppet.
If, like me, you are afraid of the following: giant sculptures of spiders, children running in and out of a statue of a vagina (which actually made me squeal in horror - Best. Contraception. Ever) avoid the sculpture garden.
Anyway, I'm back, sunburned and ready to get up to all sorts of spring fun in New York... even if I have just sat on my ass and stared at the TV ever since I got off the coach from DC.
Blame Jenny.
Mood: Optimistic about getting off the couch later

I loved this book! I actually got through the full book in one day - can you believe that? Its not like i dont have a life cos i do, but once you get into this, i just couldnt put it down.! I think i ought to get some more of this authors books dont you! I love it when you read a book like this cos the main person becomes some sort of inspiration, she may think her lifes fell apart, but boy - id love to be in her shoes right now! Totally loved it! :) XApril 25th, 2010 by Angela Murray

Glad you guys had a great time in DC, what a beautiful time of the year to be there. Just have to say.. Just got back to Oz after my trip to NY which I have christened the Angela tour! And I am in love.. with a city.. am going to try to move there now for a while because that city breathes life like no other, you are very lucky to live there. Love your work and can't wait till June for Paris.. hope to hear some news soon along the lines of "they are making the books into movies". xx
